Specific Registry Cleaner Concerns

Specific Registry Cleaner Concerns:

A Centralized Registry: The Windows Registry System has some advantages and benefits which include: The configuration of your PC is kept separate from the user configuration. Setting policies for a group is much more simple for management by administrators. Over a network, the registry can be accessed and managed as one item, and backed up quickly because of the location and size of the specific registry files.

With a centralized registry, there exist some problems also: The Windows system registry can be considered a "single point of failure" - which means modifying the registry can lead to a variety of problems...from poor system performance to your computer not even booting up correctly!

Data could even be rendered unrecoverable in extreme circumstances, and you would have to do a full re-installation of your Windows operating system.

Sometimes computer applications do not uninstall correctly, and this will residual "junk" files in your computer registry...this in-turn will increase your registry size. When the registry grows very large, your PC performance will almost always decrease and cause your system to become unstable.

Some experienced users will actually spend hours going through the Windows registry and editing it manually. This is a very time consuming and "risky" task for even the most experienced computer users...as deleting one wrong registry entry can damage your operating system and endanger your valuable data!

You should always backup your registry before ever making any modifications. This enables you to go back to the previously working state before any problems may have occurred when making registry changes.

Even restoring specific parts of the registry can be a difficult and time consuming task.

RegCure (our top rated Registry cleaner), provides you with many safeguards and features that will assure you that your registry has been safely backed up and any modified files can easily be restored to your system registry.

RegCure will allow you to remove the registry items that are not needed and unused, thus increasing the performance speed and efficiency of your computer (sometimes dramatically)!

Spyware. Protect Your Privacy Online

People think that there is actually no difference between spyware and adware. Spyware is just a web term used to refer to an advertising supported software, which is otherwise known as adware. These are the pop-up ads that often come out whenever we open a website or download a shareware software. But according to some web experts, spyware is much much more.

Supporters of spyware and adware say that though it can be pretty annoying at times especially if you are really in a hurry, both do give consumers huge benefits. Because the product ads generate income for developers of shareware software, consumers can get them for free. Developers are in turn paid for their work. Of course, if you don't want to be bothered by the constant pop-ups, you can always pay the licensing fee or the regular fee for the software. If you want it for free, you just have to sacrifice through the spyware.

The downside to it is this: Spyware, from the name given to it, is actually used as a tracking device in your computer system. These tracking devices will track your surfing habits, your chatting logs and even the number of times you open your email. If designed or programmed the right way, it can discover just about everything else in your system. Since the program runs in the background, there is no way that a person can control the kind of information that he or she sends out.

These kinds of programs were actually originally used by parents or people in the business sector who who wanted to track the activities of their children or employees. It was actually beneficial but not when people are not aware that they are being tracked down. This is often the case when people download software over the Internet. As mentioned before, it is used today by companies wanting to advertise their products and in turn help the developers of software keep their costs down so that they can afford to offer their programs for free.

Although privacy issues indeed come into play, there is nothing illegal about it. In fact, its use is prevalent all over the World Wide Web. There are however some areas that people who value their privacy will object to. Because of this, people are given the option to refuse the software.

There is really no way that one can avoid adware and spyware as these programs are packaged with the software that you will be downloading from the Internet. The most that you can do is to avoid downloading from the internet and to refuse any file downloads that you did not personally authorize. It is also good to only view websites that have a good reputation or those that have anti-spyware and adware programs installed in their pages.

But since that is almost impossible to do these days, having spyware protection is essential to safe computing. I have personally reveiwed the top spyware programs out there. After downloading a free scan at one site I was surprised to find that I still had 143 traces of spyware that was undetected by some of my more expensive programs. What Are the Pros and Cons Of Vista?

Anyone who is not a computer wiz needs Vista explained in plain English without all the jargon and terminology that some use to describe Microsoft Vista. There has been a lot of buzz around the software and some of the problems there have been. It’s time to demystify Vista with simple language that can be understood by everyone. I know there are people out there who know all the terminology but there are also others who are just going to buy a new computer with the new software already installed. This is just fine, but even these people need to know what they’re buying with a simple pros and cons list.

One of the major points for the positive side is the new interface of Vista. You will see no better graphics with any other version than you will with this software. Everything runs smoother, sleeker, and more impressively. There are sharper images for an experience like no other. In addition, the new software is easier to use than previous versions as well. This is a plus for all those people looking for simple navigation through the system. Finally, the major improvement is the higher level of security. As we all know, P.C. are extremely susceptible to all sorts of spy ware, viruses, and other harmful programs. With Vista, you are safer than every before. Basically, you will get a good looking, safer, and easier to use computer.

With the pros out of the way, the cons come screeching in. One of the largest complaints is that the new software takes up a little bit too much RAM. It uses up too much of a computers memory for most peoples taste. The second problem is that there are too many bugs that have not been worked out yet. Many people are not willing to take the plunge for this reason. People are not willing to buy something for $150 that they then have to test as well. The final problem is that the software is not compatible with some hardware. This means that if you have a computer which is more than 2 years of age, you might be risking a problem with compatibility which may cause some of your computer to stop working.

Now that you know what the pros and cons of Microsoft Vista are, be sure to make the decision that best fits your situation. If you planned on buying a new machine, you could still do so and get the new software already installed. With this solution, you prevent any problems with compatibility. If you want to upgrade your old P.C. you can test Vista, but if you have trouble, just revert back to XP.

Windows Vista and Picture Metadata - Watch out!

Microsoft wants to make it easy to label photos with metadata - information such as where the picture was taken and who's in it - but you better be careful before you use the company's software for doing so.

Windows Vista and the Microsoft Photo Info tool can cause problems with metadata or the image itself.

According to one Microsoft Knowledge Base article, "When you edit the properties of a photo to add metadata to that photo in Windows Vista, the software for the digital camera may no longer recognize the metadata that is automatically added to the photo by the digital camera."

Tagging the raw files through Windows Vista or the Microsoft Photo Info tool after the codec is installed appears to cause these files to become unreadable in other applications, such as Adobe Photoshop," Microsoft has said in a a frequently asked-questions list for the Photo Info software.

Microsoft is letting camera manufacturers supply processing software that Vista can employ when users want to open or print raw files. Nikon released its raw-image support in January, and Sony and Olympus followed suit on Wednesday.

Another alert regards using Photo Info to change metadata on NEF images - the "raw" photos directly from the cameras' image sensors. "Microsoft has received reports of compatibility issues with Nikon NEF files after installing version 1.0 of Nikon's raw codec posted in January.

Vista users can find the raw image software through the operating systems "check for updates" feature built into the Photo Gallery software.
